A few kilometers from the northeast entrance of Yellowstone Park, Red Lodge is a small mountain town with colorful brick buildings. Its history is that of a changing, cosmopolitan and uncertain West. A time built into the Crow Indian reserve, the city then developed with coal and railways attracting European migrants: Italians, Scandinavians and native native Indians then composed the majority of its population. But Red Lodge has known, like many, depression to finally regain a second breath thanks to tourism. The highlights of the year revolve around the two local attractions, winter skiing and the summer park visit. Don't miss the Yellowstone Wildlife Sanctuary which welcomes needy animals in the park. In July, Rodeo champions clashed at the Red Lodge Rodeo Grounds and in March, the city took exotic accents with carnival. Red Lodge's little Far West Center dance at the rhythm of the percussions at the Broadway Avenue parade, then direction the ski resort for the torch descent.
