Taos plaza, a place full of history, mainly intended to welcome tourists from all over the world
Taos Plaza is primarily for tourism. Historically, this was the end of the Camino Real de Tierra Adentro, the trade route that connected Mexico City to the Santa Fe province of New Mexico, north of New Spain. It was then a place of trade. The American flag in this plaza is the only one in the country that stays on top of the mast all day. This dates back to the Civil War. Having been torn down several times by southerners, people had to watch it day and night; since then, the flag has flown 24 hours a day.
