It is said that when God was distributing the world's wealth, he dropped his basket here and left it there... The popular wisdom is not fortuitous, since the region is crossed by rivers and numerous streams lined with cypress trees (the Barranca de San Quintin!), springs and even a very pretty waterfall of about twenty meters high(El Saltito, whose waters are nevertheless contaminated by the paper factory located upstream). The place has real oases in the semi-desert landscape that characterizes the region: at the bend in the road, the crop fields located near the canyons, always well irrigated, bring a lively touch of green to the otherwise sandy landscape dotted with shrubs. Add to this the village whose five church towers pierce the sky and the stage is set: Nombre de Dios is quite simply the first village to have been founded (1562) and hosted a religious service in the northern part of Mexico. For your enjoyment, be sure to try the mezcal that has been produced here for generations.
