There are two very popular vacation spots for Mexicans: first, Casitas, a village with beautiful beaches dotted with coconut palms, and about 50 kilometers further north, Villa de Tecolutla, a village located on the seashore at the mouth of the Tecolutla River. Between Tecolutla and Casitas, there are numerous beaches, almost virgin, known as the Esmeralda Coast. Let's not forget that the term Costa Esmeralda also includes the hinterland up to Tlapacoyan, where several archaeological areas can be found. This mountainous region, full of rivers, is also a paradise for ecotourism and rafting.
