Opened in 1928 as a movie theater (Kunsky Royal Oak), this beautiful Art Deco building quickly gained a solid reputation in suburban Detroit. It wasn't until 1978 that the building was converted into a venue for music and live performances, becoming the Royal Oak Music Theatre. Many famous artists have performed there, such as The Black Keys, Lady Gaga, Wilco, The Decemberists, Wiz Khalifa, Adele, Skrillex, etc. There are also comedy shows, musical revues and other special events.
