UNIVERSITY OF MICHIGAN
The University of Michigan campus is home to a multitude of attractions open to the general public
Founded in Detroit in 1817 and the oldest university in the state of Michigan, it didn't move to Ann Arbor until 1837. It also has two regional campuses in Dearborn and Flint, a teaching hospital in Ann Arbor and more than twenty medical clinics in the southeastern part of the state. The university also maintains a presence in Detroit through a variety of initiatives (education, research, services), not to mention its future University of Michigan Center for Innovation, due to open in the next few years (construction is scheduled to begin in 2023). A number of prominent figures have studied at the University of Michigan, including Gerald Ford (38th President of the United States), Henry Ford (founder of Ford Motor Company), Tom Brady (retired NFL star quarterback) and Madonna (singer and actress who needs no introduction). A dozen alumni have also won a Nobel Prize, whether in physics, medicine or economics. On the immense campus, you'll find a multitude of attractions open to the general public: concert/show halls, art galleries, bookshops, museums (fine arts, archaeology, natural history and planetarium, etc.), arboretum and botanical garden, golf course, skating rink... Also worth seeing: a Wolverines college soccer game at Michigan Stadium, the largest in North America.
