ASSAM STATE MUSEUM

Inaugurated in 1940, this government museum traces the history of Assam through various sections: archaeology, anthropology, ethnography, mythology, crafts, works of art... The precious sculptures on display are divided into different categories: stone, metal, wood and terracotta. A large section is dedicated to the history of the Kingdom of Ahom. The museum library contains books, encyclopedias and newspaper articles on the history of the state. The visit is interesting and takes about an hour.
