Built in the 17th century, the Umananda Devaloi is worth a visit. The original temple was severely damaged by the earthquake of 1897 and has been rebuilt. Dedicated to Shiva, it is located on a small island in the Brahmaputra and ferries run regularly from Uzanbazar. The main altar, which stands on a small hill, is scarlet red. One can admire stone sculptures scattered all around the island and representing deities of the Hindu pantheon: Shiva of course, but also Vishnu and his avatars, Ganesh, Surya...
