This superb mill dating from 1869, was built as a sign of defiance against the miller of the other mill
Aeolus is a beautiful mill dating from 1869. It was built in defiance of the miller of the other mill (de Hoop). This one is bigger and higher than the other one! The Aeolus mill (named after the Greek god of wind), located in Wemeldinge, belongs to the municipality of Kapelle. It is sometimes activated by a volunteer miller. For the record, it caught fire in 1888 and was rebuilt. It is a rather technical and advanced corn and wheat mill with 3 millstones. The wheels of the mill are more than 24 meters long.
