MONTSERRAT CASTLE

The first written mention of the castle dates back to 1059. In the 17th century, Francesc de Montserrat, the very first Marquis of Tamarit, recovered the castle and it is his descendants who still own it today. Imposing and excellently preserved, the house-monument is impressive for its size and for the diversity of architectural styles that characterize it, although most of what can be seen dates from the extensive renovations of the 17th century.
