TORREDEMBARRA CASTLE

The construction of the Icart castle, which stands at the top of the township, began in 1565 and was commissioned by the lord Lluís Icart and lasted no less than fifteen years. It is the only civil building of Catalan Renaissance style that has been preserved in Catalonia, and today it houses the municipal services of the town. Torredembarra Castle is square in shape and is framed by four towers, with a central arcade from which the various outbuildings of this ancient fortified residence emerge. A must-see!
