MUME - EXILE MEMORIAL MUSEUM OF EXILE
This large modern space is part of the network of places of memory in Catalonia.
Open 2007, this great modern space is both a museum but also a historical research centre and a tool for teaching the exile of Spanish civil war and more widely on all exiles. It hosts a permanent exhibition based on five themes: exile in general, the problems of defeat and pensions, the diaspora, the experience and the legacy of exile. The entire treaty through audio-visual resources including interviews and photographs as well as numerous original documents (correspondence, baggage, objects made…) and large explanatory panels. It is part of the network of places of memory in Catalonia.

The Mume - Museu Memorial de l'Exili is a museum located at the border crossing point through which hundreds of thousands of Spanish and Catalan exiles fled Franco's dictatorship, at La Jonquera. Here you'll discover permanent and temporary exhibitions. The latter reflect the memory of Republican exile during the Spanish Civil War, and exile in general. Topics include war, defeat and retreat, diaspora, the legacy of exile, and more. The Fond Josep Narro, a renowned illustrator of the 1930s, is particularly striking. The MUME's educational offer includes guided tours, workshop visits, exile routes and an educational bag... The Mume - Museu Memorial de l'Exili will give you an exceptional understanding of exile.
