THE CENTRE OF KELLYVILLE

Kellyville is an ionospheric and atmospheric research centre founded in 1983 15 km west of the city. The radar is operated by the American National Science Foundation and the Danish Meteorological Institute. Research on various atmospheric phenomena (including the Northern Lights, radiation, the polar atmosphere and the ozone layer) is carried out using measurement tools and antennas scattered throughout the landscape. The location can be identified by its flat radar. Visits are by appointment only.
