Igaliku, formerly known as Gardar ("farm"), was a former colony where the Vikings lived mainly from agriculture until about 1450 when the community collapsed. So it's not quite by chance that Igaliku is the first place in the south where the return to agriculture became the main source of income! An ideal destination for a visit to discover the Norwegian ruins, modern agriculture, sheep farms and numerous hiking possibilities. You can also ask the hotel reception to arrange a kaffemik or visit one of the surrounding farms.
