MANZAR LANGAR OTA
Lonely on its hillside, the Langar Ota mausoleum is the funerary monument of the region's most famous saint, Mohamed Sadik Cheikh, who lived in the 16th century. Follow the path through the cemetery to reach the gates of this monument, surrounded by a lush garden. Along the way, note the engraved tomb of a Langar resident (with her cat): she lived to be 106 years old, and was the village healer and herbalist. She is revered by the locals. Less so, however, than Mohamed Sadik, who died in 1545, a local patron of the arts who gave the village its mosque.
