The city of Bagerhat is famous for its «Mosque aux 60 domes», one of the finest achievements of Islamic art in the period of the Sultanate, inscribed in UNESCO World Heritage. Its founder, Khan Jahan Ali, left many other mosques in the surrounding countryside. This is why Bagerhat is nicknamed the city of mosques. He is buried not far, and his grave is a high place of pilgrimage in Bangladesh. Only a small hour of Khulna, the site of Bagerhat definitely deserves a visit.
