Kalia, in the West Bank, a territory Israel has occupied since 1967, is the first Dead Sea site you'll encounter coming from Tel Aviv or Jerusalem, from which it is only 30 minutes away. If you are coming to the Dead Sea just for a dip, the beaches of Kalia may be a good alternative to Ein Gedi, where the public beach is not so good and the spa is quite expensive. If you come by bus, make sure you tell the driver if you want to get off at the Kalia beaches or at the kibbutz, the stop is not the same. The bus will leave you on the main road and you will have to walk 2 kilometers to reach the seaside
