The trail, popular with extreme hikers, runs along old pumping stations, road camps, bridges and trucks.
Explore the Mackenzie Mountains on the Historic Canol Trail. Cleared during the Second World War by the United States, who wanted to build a pipeline from Norman Wells to Alaska to supply the army with fuel, this road was abandoned after the war. Today it is a very popular trail for lovers of extreme hiking. From nearby Yukon to Norman Wells, the trail follows former pumping stations, road camps, bridges and abandoned trucks for 358 km. The complete crossing can take up to a month.
