A small coastal community in the heart of the "Riviera of the Midwest", it's a great place to live. That's why Chicagoans flock to the town during the summer months, with the added bonus of a beautiful beach at Silver Beach County Park. Many events are organized during this period, such as the Saturday farmer's market or the antique market on the first Sunday of the month, not forgetting the not-to-be-missed Chalk on the Block art event in early August. Winter, on the other hand, is a little quieter. There are a number of good hotels, restaurants and boutiques, mainly on State Street.
