SHAHI MOSQUE

To the west of the fort is the Shahi Mosque, the largest and most elegantly decorated mosque in the region. It was built by the royal family at the beginning of the 20th century. Floral motifs engraved in stucco and Islamic calligraphy decorate the main entrance and inside the building. You can ask a person in charge of the mosque to open the minaret door for you. At the top of the tower you will have a beautiful view of the Kunar River, the Tirich Mir and the city of Chitral.
