MISIÓN SAN FRANCISCO JAVIER
The building is made of ashlar and wooden frame, with three magnificent altarpieces bathed in gold, imported by mule.
A beautiful ashlar and timber-framed Latin-cross building featuring three magnificent altarpieces bathed in gold, imported by mule from Tepotzotlán in the 18th century. Construction of the present church began in 1730 and was completed in 1744, thanks to the "help" of 4,000 Cochimi Indians. A small museum is located at the rear of the church; it is only open on certain excursions, or during Holy Week or patron saint festivals.
