Jabalpur is of limited interest to tourists: the old bazaar north of the railroad line, a few former military cantonments and a British cemetery on the outskirts of town. Nevertheless, the town is an almost obligatory stopover on the way to Kanha National Park. Locals go to Bhedaghat, 40 km from Jabalpur, for Marble Rocks: a natural gorge with a high marble content, where you can take a 30-minute boat trip (Rs. 100 per person). The other attraction is the magnificent Dhuandar Falls, located upstream on the Narmada River.
