The peat bog is part of the Natura 2000 network, and is of great ecological, faunistic and floristic interest.

This Natura 2000 peat bog is of great ecological, faunistic and floristic interest, with natural archives dating back 15,000 years to the end of the Ice Age. Pollens from local plants, millions of years old, can be found here, and their study makes it possible to retrace the evolution of the climate in this part of Morvan. A wooden trail, starting near the Lac des Settons dam, takes visitors on a 3.5 km round trip over the peat bog.
