MUSEO LUIGI ILLICA
Luigi Illica (1857-1919) was a writer, poet, journalist and opera librettist born in the house adjacent to the museum. Eccentric and rebellious, he was one of the leading exponents of the scapigliatura movement in the 19th century. With Giuseppe Giacosa, he wrote the librettos for Tosca, Madame Butterfly and La Bohème, later set to music by the Maestro. His life is traced through a number of manuscripts, opera librettos, letters, photographs, costumes, his piano and an incredible portable typewriter. The Illica Festival is held every year.
