The Rocca Viscontea currently hosts a museum of medieval life
Built between 1342 and 1349 by Luchino Visconti on the foundations of a Roman building, this fortress had a defensive function. Built in brick and crowned with swallowtail battlements, it occupied a strategic position along the valley. Its keep was an excellent vantage point and, even today, it still provides a magnificent panoramic terrace with views of the Apennines and the surrounding countryside. Until the 1960s, the Rocca was also used as a prison. It currently houses a museum of medieval life.

This small medieval village is a very nice one to visit. You can park your car at the parking outside the old center and walk up to the castle and church; both are beautiful and a guided visit of the rock is available at the tourist information office just in the square in front of the castle. From the tower you’ll enjoy a view of the nice surroundings. In a sunny day with snow the landscape is beautiful. There in also a good restaurant (Stradivarius) and an interesting natural science museum with specimens of fossils of the region.
