A watering hole in the middle of the pampas, populated by thousands of red shrimp and ideal for weekend bathing.
Get your bearings and don't hesitate to ask for directions. On the east side of the Queen's highway, you will discover the ruins of a small Anglican church, St Mary the Virgin, and can park in front of it. The path around the ruins will take you straight to this water hole in the middle of the pampas. Locals usually come here to swim at weekends. This water hole is populated by thousands of red shrimps which gave it its name. It is necessary to come there by good weather around 3 pm, the colors become very bright and the scarlet shrimps.
