Statue of a giant lumberjack carrying a hot dog, which weighs 230 kg for 8 m high, placed in front of a restaurant on the Route 66.
This giant is the second one that we meet on the Route 66 from Chicago. It is the statue of Paul Bunyan. A lumberjack of the American and Canadian folklore, he is present in many children's books but also in many musicals and theatrical productions. The one that stands before you was donated to the small town of Atlanta in 2003 by the Illinois Route 66 Association, after a businessman from Cicero donated it. Paul Bunyan was promoting Bunyon's Restaurant, one of whose specialties was the hot dog.
