In the Middle Ages, Blackpool was a simple coastal hamlet before becoming a popular destination for the English aristocracy from the 18th century onwards, and then, with the arrival of the train in 1846, for a much larger population. This seaside town on the Irish Sea is now an amusement park in its own right. Its gigantic waterfront is dotted with roller coasters, big wheels, Victorian palaces, casinos and gaming rooms. Among the notable attractions is the 158-metre high Blackpool Tower, built in 1893 and inspired by the Eiffel Tower. At its base is the largest circus in Great Britain. Of course, we will also notice its 11 km beach and its three Piers, Pleasure Beach (an amusement park), Blackpool zoo and Sea Life Centre, among others.
