JARDÍN BOTÁNICO DEL PLAN DE LA LAGUNA
A site covering approximately 3 ha with woodland vegetation, a marshy area, pieces of petrified lava...
The botanical garden is located at the bottom of an extinct volcanic crater, south-east of the town of Cuscatlán, on an area of around 3 hectares. The wind cannot blow over the crater's slopes, which favours an interesting woodland vegetation: over 3,500 species of plants! The last volcanic eruption in the 18th century transformed the lagoon into a kind of marshland. Pieces of petrified lava can be seen in the garden.
