EDAKKAL CAVES
Caves with stunning petroglyphs, to be visited in the early hours of the morning for an incredible view of the valley
Located just a few kilometers from Sultan Bathery, the Edakkal caves contain stunning petroglyphs, the remains of a civilization that lived here around 6,000 BC! Access is via a kilometre-long path lined with stores and stalls of all kinds. Once you've reached the ticket office, there's still a steep climb to get into the only cave open to the public. It's best to visit in the early hours of the morning, when it's less crowded, and to enjoy spectacular views over the valley.
