Since 1973, enthusiastic volunteers have been restoring and operating a 39 km section of the old Ghan line, linking Port Augusta to Quorn through the picturesque Pichi Richi Pass. The routes, which run from April to October, take in typical Outback scenery, with its bluebush-dotted hills and ancient rock formations. The trains, made up of historic steam and diesel locomotives and meticulously restored wooden coaches, offer an authentic immersion in Australian railway history.
