Just 10 kilometers from Vézelay, the Château de Bazoches, home of Marshal de Vauban, reveals its fascinating history. Built in the 12th century, it was transformed into a military garrison by Vauban, where he devised his military strategies and wrote his famous Oisivetés. His writings on the region bear witness to his era. Although Vauban spent only a short time here, his presence is still palpable in his personal effects and workplaces. Open to the public since 1997, it offers an insight into the life of this 17th-century man of war.
