The Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta is one of the regions in the world with the highest level of avian endemism

Colombia has the highest number of bird species in the world (over 1,900 species). The Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta hosts more than a third of these species, in less than 2% of the national territory. It is one of the regions in the world with the most avian endemism, with 36 species found only in these mountains, 25 of which are found around Minca. The birdwatchers will be in heaven here!
