The nickname given to this ridge comes from the monument to the deaths of the Malagasy and French, which commemorates the 1942 battle for the liberation of Antsiranana by the Allied armies. Take a look at the ruins of the fortifications, dating from the early 20th century. Access from Diego is via the road leading to Ramena, then the Way of the Cross at km 7 towards the Nosy Ravo fort (summit). The walk (3 h) is magnificent: baobabs, thorn trees, aloes, birds and lizards surround you. At the summit, the panorama opens out over the bay of Antsiranana and the surrounding countryside. Admission: 25,000 Ar per person, guiding not included.
