Largitzen, a small village in southern Alsace, is home to a snail farm called "Escargots de Margaux". The snails are born and raised on site, fed on GMO-free cereals and minerals. The farm has around 200,000 "Hélix Aspersa Maxima" snails, commonly known as "Gros Gris". For fans of local produce, Margaux snails are available from a variety of outlets.
