CARNAVAL DES OURS

Legend has it that Charles Martel, raised in Andenne by his grandmother, killed a bear with a hammer at the age of 9. Since then, the bear has become the carnival mascot. The procession includes 30 floats, 500 people in bear costume, three giants: Charles Martel, Fonzi and Martin II, and majorettes. But above all, the dreaded "cage aux demoiselles", where unwary female spectators who get too close to the bears are imprisoned during the parade! From the balcony of the Town Hall, 250 teddy bears are thrown by the King and Queen of Carnival for the children.
