Symbolic markers with a torch coming out of the ocean in Bastogne
In Saint-Symphorien, in August 1946, the "Borne de la Voie de la Liberté" was inaugurated. Symbolic markers bearing a torch rising from the ocean (as around the Statue of Liberty in New York harbour), at each kilometer of the route followed by General Patton's divisions. And so, over 1,147 km, from the Normandy landing beaches to Bastogne! Every year, a "Voie de la Liberté" cycling tour is organized for amateur cyclists.
