Monument dedicated to the memory of General Anthony McAuliffe, known for his reckless humanist nature

This monument is dedicated to the memory of General Anthony McAuliffe, fierce defender of Bastogne and commander of the 101st Airborne Division known for his reckless humanist nature. The sculpture was designed by Miss Silvercruys, sister of the (then) Belgian ambassador to the United States. On the square is also the Sherman tank of the 11th Armored Division "Thunderbolt" destroyed on 30 December during the fighting in the vicinity of the hamlet of Renuamont.
