Beguinage with small houses arranged in their alleys, with bread oven, baroque church, hospital and medicinal garden

A beguinage (classified as a world heritage site by UNESCO) with small houses neatly arranged in their picturesque alleys. Like many beguinages, it was built outside the city walls before Mechelen's expansion eventually took it over. A real city within the city, the beguinage had a bread oven, a baroque church, a hospital, a medicinal garden... Luc Faydherbe, master of the Flemish baroque, participated in the construction of the church.

Construit à l'écart de l'animation commerciale de la cité ce béguinage est un endroit tranquille , il est composé par des petites maisons aux façades à l'architecture varié qui s'étendent le long de ruelles peu fréquentées. A son extrémité la présence de la brasserie de la ville permet de parfaire ses connaissances gastronomiques.
