You only have to see its superb and historic hotel, the Grand Hotel, to understand that the place welcomes the greats of this world, and this is not recent. Popular activities include horseback riding, golf, water sports and a visit to Fort Mackinac, a former 18th century U.S. military outpost. Mackinac Island is also the American capital of fudge with nearly a dozen shops and a dedicated festival. Please note that cars are banned from the island, but electric bikes and scooters can be rented on site.
