Since its commissioning in 1993, its success has been growing. Over the past two years, approximately 8 million passengers have flown through this low-cost airport. It is actually closer to Mainz (85 km) than to Frankfurt am Main (120 km); it is also 160 km from Cologne, 175 km from Metz, or 118 km from Luxembourg City. It serves many destinations in Europe and North Africa: Dublin, Marrakech, Montpellier, Oslo or Sofia. Ryanair is the most important low-cost airline at this airport, followed by Iceland Express and Wizz Air. On site many services: fast food, playground, exchange office, lost and found office, hotels, car rental, shuttles. For those travelling to the airport by car, they can leave it parked on site for the duration of their stay. Alternatively, use the Flibco.com shuttles. The two airport terminals are connected by Sky Line, an aerial metro that connects every 2 or 3 minutes (free of charge). Free buses also connect the two terminals every 10 minutes.

On peut l'utiliser pour aller à Francfort comme l'indique son nom (Frankfurt Hahn) mais aussi à Trèves ou Mayence ou encore Wiesbaden. A l'arrivée on y trouve des loueurs de voitures pour aller où on veut mais aussi on peut prendre des bus vers Francfort (aéroport ou gare en centre ville) ou vers Trèves et Luxembourg.
Pour pas cher, on peut se faire des weekends sympas. En cas d'arrivée tardive ou de départ aux aurores, l'hôtel B&B tout neuf à l'intérieur du site est bien pratique.
