One of the best examples of traditional building style in Iceland, old farmhouse under the protection of the national museums

Here you can admire a restored old peat farmhouse, flanked by a pretty little church. The old presbytery farm, now under the protection of the national museums, is one of the best examples of the traditional style of building in Iceland. There were usually 20 to 30 people living on this prosperous farm in fertile land. In 1936, the last shepherd left Laufás and the farm has not been inhabited since.

Ferme de Tourbe
Une très jolie ferme au toit de tourbe située dans un magnifique fjord face à Akureyri.
L'ensemble est très bien conservé, avec une chapelle à côté.
Le musée mérite le détour; cela retrace bien la vie au siècle dernier.
