Located in northern Iceland, Grenivík is a fishing hamlet with a population of 265. To reach it, you'll have to drive to the end of a dead-end road on the north bank of the Eyjafjörður. This peaceful village has escaped mass tourism and can be a welcome stopover, as well as a pleasant starting point for hiking in the surrounding area. Between mid-April and mid-May, lupines abound along some of the trails, giving a violet hue to these wild and invigorating landscapes. A few kilometers before Grenivík lies the former peat farm of Laufás, an interesting reminder of life in days gone by.
