Located 6 km south of Thalang, on a roundabout on the main road from the airport to Phuket Town, the Heroines Monument consists of two statues of women, each holding a sword. It symbolizes the victory of the Thais against an invasion of the Burmese in 1785. The two women, sisters Chan and Mook, were the ones who led the army in Phuket in this resistance movement. They were honored by King Rama who granted them the honorary distinction Thao (Lady).
