SYNAGOGUE (ZSINAGÓGA)
Flamboyant Art Nouveau synagogue built in the early century, next to the Shoah Museum in Hódmezővásárhely.
Hódmezővásárhely's flamboyant Art Nouveau synagogue, built at the very beginning of the 20th century, replaces an earlier 19th-century building in the Romantic style. Its refined architecture and colorful stained glass windows bear witness to the importance of the local Jewish community at the time. Renovated in 2004, the synagogue is now a place of remembrance and culture. Next door, a Shoah museum has been set up to commemorate the region's Jewish victims, with documentary exhibitions and testimonies. Paper explanations in French available.
