Town located east of Arnhem Land, 20 min from the aboriginal community of Yirrkala, with wonderful campsites.

Nhulunbuy is a small town in the east of Arnhem Land, established by the nearby iron ore mine, 20 minutes from the aboriginal community of Yirrkala. You can get there by plane via Airnorth or by car via the Central Arnhem Road, but you'll need a good 4x4, as it takes around 15 hours to drive from Darwin. In Nhulunbuy, you can hire a 4x4 to explore the surrounding area, especially the campsites along the coast, which are absolutely marvellous. Accommodation is available at Walkabout Lodge or Yirrkala in Buku, but please book in advance.
