Souq Waqif is a living replica of the village as it existed 200 years ago. A model village in the style of Doha, located between Main St and the sea. At the end of the 1970s, the precursors of French archaeology spoke of "one of the most beautiful architectural ensembles of Qatari heritage in the process of complete disappearance". Wakrah survived the Bahraini raids, the Ottoman occupation and the British bombardments. It has the same districts as Doha (spice markets, cheese, gold, etc.).
