Located 250 km north-east of Tasmania, this island of 75 km by 40 km is part of the Furneaux archipelago. It is at Lady Barron, in the south of the island, that the ferry from Bridport docks. Flinders is a mountain in the middle of the sea, with spectacular landscapes, the pink or grey granite cliffs of Strzelecki and Killiecrankie mountains, sand dunes, small streams and calm and green farmlands. The island has 900 inhabitants. We will not forget that from 1830, at the end of the Black War which lasted more than 30 years in Tasmania, nearly 200 Aborigines were deported here by the British settlers. Only 80 survived.
