North of Port Stephens and the Myall River estuary, Hawks Nest is a paradise. It is named after a large tree that was a favorite nesting place for hawks and was used as a navigational marker in the early days of settlement. From this peaceful village next to Tea Gardens you can walk along the huge wild beach and watch dolphins or go to Koala Reserve. If you have the opportunity, don't hesitate to drive to the beautiful Myall Lakes National Park. In October, don't miss the Myall River Festival at Tea Gardens.
