With a population of 68,000, Wagga Wagga is the largest city in the Riverina, bordering Victoria, and the5th largest city in Australia. Located on the Murrumbidgee River, the main source of irrigation in the region, its name comes from Wiradjuri, which means "crow or raven". The Stuart Highway links it to Adelaide, 950 kilometers to the west. The Hume Highway, the main route between Melbourne and Sydney, and the Snowy Mountains Highway are less than 50 km away. The most interesting part of Wagga Wagga is located in its northern part, near the river. There is a beautiful view of the city from the heights above the Botanical Gardens.
